Christ Church Private Tour
Christ Church College was founded in 1525 by Cardinal Wolsey but after an intriguing historical event involving love and divorce, it was finally completed in 1529 by King Henry VIII.
On this fascinating and varied tour, we will learn all about its rich history from Saxon times, right up to the present day.
We will visit the magnificent Tudor Dining Hall, that inspired the Great Hall at Hogwarts in Harry Potter, as well as some of the film locations.
Step inside the spectacular Cathedral and learn all about its religious history, its stunning architecture and its world-famous choir.
We will see the war memorial inscribed with the name of the real Alice in Wonderland’s son who lost his life in WW1.
See some of the magnificent stained-glass windows that include works by Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones. We will take a stroll around the tranquil cloister where the monks used to roam and reflect.
As we walk, we will hear about the college’s connections to King Charles I and the part it played in the English Civil War.
